MRockola is an open-source multimedia and karaoke player that also helps you keep your music, video, and karaoke collection organized. It works with folders containing any number of supported audio and video files, formatted according to the program’s naming conventions. Its ten-channel equalizer allows you to fully customize your listening experience.

Simple as it is, MRockola is not an easy-to-use utility. It comes with a double interface, one devoted to the various settings provided, and the media player itself. The former includes a limited number of settings to configure the look and feel of the interface, the above-mentioned equalizer, and a hotkey manager. The player comes in a four-panel window capable of managing up to four folders at a time. Loading these folders, however, is not as simple a task as you would hope, and the lack of help files does not make it any easier. Supposedly, the program will recognize and load any media folder of your choice as long as its name follows the program’s naming conventions – namely, “\Artist\Album” or “\Artist – Album”. I am only guessing here, but if this happened to be true, it would mean that you will be required to rename all your media folders carefully to enjoy them using MRockola. The same principle applies to the files inside the folder. In both cases, the sample names provided refer to audio files and folders only, so I did not even dare to load a folder full of AVI or MPEG files. more
